last year s acclaimed sea power & change ep, a melancholic project from the mind of celebrated portuguese powerhouse tiago, is now revisited through the lens of three essential esp institute artists. side a gives us a take on strange fruit by our heroes soft rocks — a smacked up dub/boogie rendition leaving the beautifully dark mood intact whilst twisting the the rhythms toward the tough side. on side b, secret circuit (eddie ruscha of laughing light of plenty, and soon to release his solo release for esp) stuffs wild combination in his saddle and takes us for a ride through a futuristic version of the wild west with a funky bassline and distant whistles, only to be rounded out by a blissed-out epic re-rendering of yesterday is gone by somberero galaxys jonny nash. its a family affair.

room 315 step up to the fledgling kinfolk imprint for three tasty psyche-edit numbers, opener >the eon men< sets the standard with its robust bass pulse driving a slow beat forward on a flurry of digitised synth solo and live guitar action, whilst >night on the shore< begins as a sinister number with lurching bass, but soon opens itself up with its solitary guitar line and floating synth pads which recall the end credits to an 80s thriller, all driven along with minimal 808 percussion. on the flip, edit masters soft rocks provide their own version of >the eon men<, taking the grizzled quality of the original and creating their own minimal wave inspired reworking, with a brittle bassline joined by shady echoes of dub music in its cavernous backdrop and savage low end.

edits may be dead, but just when your elitist attitude comes to a head and you think you re on top of your game, there will always be someone deeper, faster and still motivated enough to rekindle your digging desires. where blackdisco volume 10 saw the return of lovefingers and nitedog, volume xi pushes forward into new territory (and with a new aesthetic) by welcoming a group of three deep diggers who shun musical trends and their inherent fakers. dea, albion & spacelex combine their vinyl-mining efforts to unearth some real diamonds from the rough. deas cut malaka is a floater with a funky sailboat vibe, while his complimentary cut taubat takes the tired jungle disco vibe to new level with its triumphant synth-led chorus, an absolute stunner that could be extended for 20 minutes. on the flip, albion spoons water over the coals, steaming up the joint with an uptempo percussion bomb as if santana had a disco secret, and spacelex rides us out with a sexy rock groove complete with mysterious male voiceover, almost as if someone lowered the volume to whisper in your ear.

transmissions from the cyber dance imprint have been sporadic since its inception in 2005, but when they arrive they are always something very special indeed. ostensibly one of italo discos great lost producers, we suspect that bandidos gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the labels many associates. whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage italo, with >marinche< leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of moroder, whilst the flemming dalum & steen gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. >last train to tucamari< meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst flemming dalum & mike saltas remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic italo feel.

spearheaded by stuart leath, emotional rescue is a label committed to unearthing forgotten gems and giving them the exposure they richly deserve, with all releases officially licensed by the artist and remastered in full. this 12 inch sees two classic tracks by the world music collective suns of arqa take pride of place. incorporating elements of raga and dub, >brujo magic< is a much more straightforward dancefloor number than its description would suggest, with its rolling bassline and vocoder effects fusing irresistibly with its psyche-rock styles. on the b-side, >ananta snake dance< combines traditional indian percussion and harmonium with conventional drumming to create something completely unique. a strong start to what will no doubt be an indispensable label.

lando kal (a.k.a. antaeus roy), one half of bay area electro duo lazer sword, follows up maneuver, his 2011 debut for hotflush, with two cuts overflowing with the darkness of a long berlin winter. a major player in both san francisco and new yorks underground club scenes, landos love of r&b, dark jungle, detroit techno and classic house is front and center on these two bass heavy productions. the infectious rythym sektion comes on strong, lando expertly weaving the vocals of the 1991 rave classic hinted at in the title with threatening drums and kinetic percussion. on the flip, landos dynamism is on display, as inquisitions syncopated beats swagger along, insistent and knocking, drawing you into its multi-layered paranoid rhythms. lando kal has released on respected labels numbers, rush hour, sugarcane recordings, still cold, and has remixed the likes of sepalcure, hovatron, salva, sepalcure and doc daneeka. up ahead, lookout for a single dropping on leisure system, the notorious berghain party collective and label.

matador is a dublin based dj,live performer and producer who has been releasing his own twisted but organic take on techno for the last four years. late last year came the huge kingswing ep on minus and now this spooks ep sees him step-up once again for a 5 track outing which balances his usual melody with a real techno drive. the title track opens proceedings with predatory, roughshod bass tone running underneath blippy melodies, snappy house influenced percussion and a dark male vocal where kenekt is all out sci-fi weirdness.spiralling space ships, undulating basslines and plenty of well-defined percussion all add up to a snaking track that really works its way under your skin.on the flip,b1 bambam is the most heads down and streamlined techno offering of them all before klay is the ep closer which manages to bend and drip little melodic droplets down the face of slinky hi-hats and deep,rolling basslines.

souvenir is proud to present its 44th ep from a duo of frankfurts favourite sons, chris wood and carsten meat schuchmann. both chris and carsten have come up through frankfurts music scene, chris with his long time residency at the infamous monza club and carsten having started the citys premier record shop freebase, still going strong 18years later. trained as a studio engineer, chris cut his chops under the wise wings of pascal feos and joinedforces with meat, who held residencies at cocoon and robert johnson. last year they dropped the mighty triple s on souvenir, which destroyed dance floors as far afield as sao paolo to ibiza.

first part of a trilogy, unforeseen alliances is a meeting of the french artist voiski aka kartei (dement3d, silicate records, wt records) and the duo deception plan, doryan javan based in paris and r. hernandez (historia and violencia, droid behaviour) based in los angeles. the techno in its purest expression … on the a side, voiski delivers a very strong deep techno track, perfect balance between mechanical drums and hypnotic melody : emotionally intense !! on the b side deception plan gives us two version of a heavy and warm techno track : raw and sophisticated.

for correspondant 06, we have invited another french producer who comes from paris and calls himself offset. after a series of jazz/funk projects, offset found his calling with electronic music. >gazoline< is the title track and its a straight dance floor burner that crawled under our skin on the first listen. >subversive< is proof that slow can be dark, groovy, powerful, and sexy all at the same time, and >addicted< has a taste of trance just the way we like it, not too much, but just enough.

where the river turns black, is the first international album by copenhagenresident and musician katrine ottosen aka call me kat. call me kat are adorably intense and mesmerizing songs, an enchanting melancholic, almost translucent drift into this sonic world best described as alternative pop, music that gives spoken word of the ever expanding danish music scene of now. songs that adapt a fine line between organic instrumentation and that very specific sound of her voice, which although completely its own tends to remind at times on other playful ladies in music like bjørk, feist oder lykke li.earlier works with reknown producers valgeir sigurdsson (bjørk, mum, sigur rós etc.) or joe magistro (prophet omega) on the current album have certainly had their share on this.

ferdinando apicella aka kernel key adds to his extensive discography with pass it on backed with a remix by sebastian leger the release will drop on italian imprint loose records this december. a sound engineer by trade, apicellas work as kernel key is inspired by detroit techno but sounds entirely his own man. having released his first release on mkt rec, a close affiliate of loose, last year his productions are solidly growing in stature.pass it on not only marks kernel keys debut for loose but also the first remix for the imprint from the irrepressible sebastien leger, whose version of pass it on opens the ep.frenetic, swinging and massively infections, legers version is pure dancefloor mayhem and sees the revered producer inject fun and funk into the original.kernel kes original pass it on is relentless groove with short melodic loops and nagging bass doing all the required work while bizarre filtered keys cut through the tracks nicely judged breakdown for maximum build.lady red rounds off the ep with yet another squarely aimed dancefloor cut. as tight and urgent as pass it on but with slightly detuned stabs and a freakier feel, its a peak time animal of a tune.

next up on frustrated funks limited vinyl series is italian producer and visual artist federico leocata. this young producers sound aesthetics can easily be compared with dataphysix style of production with its snappy, minimal and dark characteristics (who knows what their real connection might be). but when looking a bit further federico manages to create a world of its own where unpleasant, obscure and sinister sounding tracks bring you in a dark imaginary world of ropes, burning leather and foggy torture chambers. this is the second ff release in this series of limited hand numbered and hand stamped colored vinyl 12s.first come first serve.

mute welcomes a brand new era with the birth of their latest electronic associate label, liberation technologies. citing reference from mutes original and continuing statement of intent, the label exists to give space to and encourage artists to experiment and challenge themselves, anonymously if they choose. the first release on liberation technologies is the >spring ep< by king felix, a producer from ann arbor, michigan who has also released music as laurel halo. the spring ep draws from a melee of influences, sharply carving out its own sonic palette. driving and dramatic, its an uplifting theme-and-variation exercise on oscillation and forward motion.

after countless collaborations with george in apparel music is consecrate time to this amazing artist with a vinyl. yapacc is a trademark sound that mixes techno and deep so masterful and unique. every breath of his soul shines in his works that transmit to us lot of emotions in one hit, an orchestra that in the song earth race reaches its peak, showing us new worlds, becoming glue wet, wrap around our ears. a magic stamped into the groove. rhythm to dakar is a flight for dancefloor. funky bass takes us back in time, but without losing the essential direction of the grooves fresh and spreadable. alejandro mosso to close delight us using a toll seamples. the culture changes, the rhythm as well, but not the pathos that yapacc has created for this release. alejandro breaks down and reassembled to create a whole new world, parallel but different from the original mix.

the nyc edit master kon (from kon & amir) has, after a bunch of hyped reworks on hands of time, bbe and on track delivered basic fingers a 12 inch with two killer disco reworks. we start with windy city >chicago<, a fierce disco edit that kon twisted just the right way! its playful and soulful disco at its very best. but the highlight of the release is possibly hidden on the flip. here we get a +10 min uplifting disco rework of sylvesters high energy hit >mighty real< which now sounds way fresher (and better) than the original if you ask us. yes, we are talkin real dance music on basic fingers ... a label with the goods!

>roseland nyc< was a one night stand of sorts at the new york city roseland ballroom, where geoff barrow, adrian utley and beth gibbons were joined by the 35-piece new york philharmonic orchestra. these new arrangements gave a new sense of dramatic tension, and in the process they created one of the most breathtaking albums of the genre.

its a great honour for us to be able to present conrad schnitzlers last work. only a few days before he passed away last august, he created this unique, almost 70 minutes long work. 36 parts mixed into each other create a walk through his entire work. this record is not only for fans of conrad schnitzler. its like a trip through 40 years of electronic music. conrad schnitzler once more shows how strong his influence has marked young artists like emeralds and oneohtrix point never. wihtout his solo works and his projects kluster, tangerine dream and eruption electronic music wouldnt be the same. the tracks on the vinyl edition are in the order sides a,c,b,d. this allows you to make your own mix of this big work.

hot off the heels of william medagli s amazing debut, sleazys deepness continues to ooze disco funk straight from the underground. here we have a futuristic look into the minds of sasch bbc & caspar two artists in their own right from the rhein-main-area of germany. teaming up was clearly a clever decision as supersonic delivers what we hope you would of come to love about sleazy deep by now, just that - its all in our name.

incl huge brendon moeller resketch. majestic yet playful, monotasking is a 9-minute love letter to the euphoric lost dance floors of the mid-90s written in the code of today. merging hypnotic polyrhythms with quirky swung drums, its the harmonically modulated chords that carry the theme, transcending their elusively simple rhythm with an evocative narrative structure that seamlessly guides the flow of the piece before evaporating into the translucent pads of the outro. pulling no punches, monotasking is perhaps preds most fearless work to date - with no better home than here on thoughtless.

title track -dust- launches the ep into an immediately throbbing groove, rung through with the dissonant clangs of the genre s cold, machine-obsessed heritage. this hydraulic homage is succeeded by -overshadow- —a closer inspection of techno s cogs and wheels that sees volkov tinkering with its parts over 9 minutes of cumulative atmospherics. endless—the new collaboration between alistair wells aka perc and giorgio gili, based on speedy j s electric deluxe label—offers a hypnotic remix from their pooled influences of brian eno, byetone, robert henke, irdial and ifach. here volkov s dark and growling slow-burner is stepped up into an octane workout, dressed with gili s minimalistic traits and seasoned with a spot of perc-style abrasiveness. -corner- is dust ep s provocative closer. driven by anxious, incessant hats and syncopated hisses it uses suspended melodic morsels to work itself into a beguiling anti-climax that leaves you begging for more.

the new ep from memoria comes from fast-rising romanian producer vid whose previous outings have come on labels including fear of flying and barraca music. vid (vidum) aka sorin rastoaca is a producer obsessed with nature and organic sounds. his latest release >rebirth<, is stripped but not light on feeling, and mines a vein somewhere between deep house and minimal techno. etime is a fluttery, eerie cut that works on many subtle layers. like the feathery minimal percussion of villalobos, the romanians sounds present like flapping butterfly wings as a kick drum punches out a varied pattern below. poem is a little louder and bolder, with a firm rolling kick drum and drunken, wubby sounds running right through its core. plenty of sonic details flesh out the languorous but slightly tribal groove. rebirth is again about little tiny details and how they evolve with time, but the framework they inhabit this time is deep, late-night house with gentle tinkles on keys coming over like a fluttering candle in the dark. 3729 gets its head down and mines a shifty, itching and tight minimal groove, closing out an ep which shows vid to be a master of working minimum sounds into maximum effects.

analytic trail label boss markantonio teams up with rising star roberto capuano for a superb ep of driving techno featuring original tracks from both artists as well as two collaborative recordings and a pair of swapped remixes. markantonio has been at the forefront of italys techno scene since the late nineties, with his analytic trail imprint having been behind some outstanding music for the last decade. he is also no stranger to collaborations having worked up some classic cuts with the likes of davide squillace, rino cerrone & joseph capriati and its in this spirit of collaboration that markantonio embarks upon his next release, this time working alongside the hugely talents roberto capuano. capuano hails from naples in italy and has in the space of a few short years build an enviable reputation with a string of quality releases for the likes of minisketch, monique music and elegant bit records.this join release gives a real insight into the sound and style of both producers, featuring as it does two collaborative tracks, an original solo track from each and a swapped remix from both parties.the record kicks off with collaborative recording and title track melting process, a deep, dark and rolling slice of floorfilling techno that sets out to take no prisoners.this is closely followed by the second collaboration, the excellent t4 which journeys into twisted tech territory with rigid drum patterns and edgy stabs.next up with have markantonio the gap, a rolling monster of a track with pitch shifted riffs and an incessant bassline that keep things firing on all cyclinders. roberto capuano offers up his remix which picks up the intensity with some distorted drums and a menacing late night vibe. finally we have the original and markantonio remix of capuanos taken with the former taking things down a deep, hypnotic techno route and the latter picking up the toughness and delivering another winner.

analytic trail label boss markantonio teams up with rising star roberto capuano for a superb ep of driving techno featuring original tracks from both artists as well as two collaborative recordings and a pair of swapped remixes. markantonio has been at the forefront of italys techno scene since the late nineties, with his analytic trail imprint having been behind some outstanding music for the last decade. he is also no stranger to collaborations having worked up some classic cuts with the likes of davide squillace, rino cerrone & joseph capriati and its in this spirit of collaboration that markantonio embarks upon his next release, this time working alongside the hugely talents roberto capuano. capuano hails from naples in italy and has in the space of a few short years build an enviable reputation with a string of quality releases for the likes of minisketch, monique music and elegant bit records.this join release gives a real insight into the sound and style of both producers, featuring as it does two collaborative tracks, an original solo track from each and a swapped remix from both parties. the record kicks off with collaborative recording and title track melting process a deep, dark and rolling slice of floorfilling techno that sets out to take no prisoners. this is closely followed by the second collaboration, the excellent t4 which journeys into twisted tech territory with rigid drum patterns and edgy stabs.next up with have markantonio he gap, a rolling monster of a track with pitch shifted riffs and an incessant bassline that keep things firing on all cyclinders.roberto capuano offers up his remix which picks up the intensity with some distorted drums and a menacing late night vibe. finally we have the original and markantonio remix of capuanos taken with the former taking things down a deep, hypnotic techno route and the latter picking up the toughness and delivering another winner.

nice price deal !!! patiently waiting for the year of the dragon to commence, nick chacona & anthony mansfield are finally back with a 3 track ep of epically mental proportions! hector works numero uno duo take on a true journey to house music neverland with the peter vs pan ep. almost two and half years in the making, the boys reveal their many facets of cosmic, sleaze disco and acid wonk. one the a side, pan vs peter is a tech funk heavy slow house burner, that shimmers with dubbed out guitar, thumps with low end and grooves the like the funk brothers at opium afterhours. think vacum boogie meets silver connection and you are almost there. starting off the b-side is the eps title track peter vs pan and its right out the gate ncam drunkhouse maddness. a timeless disco house groove with a bassline so big that we were certain that it was gonna blow out the lathe and never actually get cut (thankfully mastering made sure that didnt happen :). and to round things out, the boys get hard on the acid house tip with terrys nightmare, an ode to the grouchiest bartender at peter lugers steakhouse in brooklyn ny.
